When Life Throws You a Curve Ball

Last Monday, as i was about to teach my 2nd Turbo Kick class, I started to feel sick. My throat was hurting. I got through class fine, but woke up Tuesday morning down for the count. I subbed out my 2 classes on Tues, 3 on Wednesday, and my 2 lunch on Thursday. Attempted to teach Turbo on Thursday nite. My mind was ready but not my body- i had to take it super easy as i felt that i was about to pass out a couple of times. My personal fitness routine was affected as well. I had not missed a single ChaLean Extreme workout since I started in February, I even did my workouts while on vacation. Missing my workout frustrated me the most, I had a plan circuit 1-Monday, circuit 2-Wednesday, circuit 3-Friday. Now, I'm out of sync :( Okay, i can sit around and dwell on that or readjust my workout schedule and finish on May 3 instead of April 29th!
Additionally, my eating was so screwy while sick. I didn't eat too much on tues, but by wed my throat wasn't hurting anymore but my head was totally congested, so i was stuck to the sofa all day, and not in the mood for my regular salad. I didn't go to the grocery store all week and was stuck with my P90X protein bars, Shakeology and whatever little snacks i could find around the house-not good.
So being sick and not eating my regular food was a minor curve ball for me. It's just that my new exercise/eating routine has finally come easy for me and i really enjoy it.
I'm feeling better but not 100% yet, but I must make it my mission to get to the store and stock up on a ton of veggies and get back to my regular schedule. Yeah, it would just be so easy to fall back into my old ways, because things didn't go my way last week, but I know how good I feel when I am doing positive things for myself and reaping the rewards.
Everything is not going to go your way 100% percent of the time, but how you deal with it will determine your success =)

1,000 Steps Workout

Last N0vember when I was in So Cal, I got to do an outdoor stair workout that my boss, Chalene Johnson had created. I have to admit that I was nervous going into this workout as it is called The 1,000 steps workout. Chalene had sent a playlist for the workout for us to download to our ipods for the workout. She choreographed the workout so that each time you go up the stairs, you do a certain "step/move" for a song. Within, the 1st few seconds of the workout I had forgotten about all of those steps ahead of me, cause i was just having so much fun, stepping to the beat and climbing the stairs. I've found a place in NYC where there are lots of stairs and it's in a beautiful park waaaayyyy uptown, but it's so worth it for me to take the 45 minute train ride. I love doing this workout as it's such a great change of pace for me from the 12 classes that I teach all week. It's super challenging and fun at the same time!

I used to be one of those people that dreaded working out. I'm so glad that I've been able to connect with people that have a passion for fitness and have been able to share that passion with me. If you dread working out, keep at it and try new things. There is something for everyone. It may be hard at 1st, but remember, as with anything in life, the more you do it, the better you will get =)

The Shakeology Cleanse

After a wonderful week out of the country on vacation and some minor indulgences, I decided to do The Shake Cleanse (created by fellow Beachbody coach Mike Karpenko) as soon as I returned. The Shake Cleanse involves drinking 3 Shakeology Shakes a day, 2 Green or Detox Teas and a salad for dinner w/a lean white protein (if you are very active, you can also add 2 servings of fruit). Well I'm 1/2 way through Day 3 and happy to report that all has been going well. I've even been able to keep up with my regular workout/teaching schedule. I've only had slight hunger, but I am also feeling refreshed and energized =) I'm in the final month, phase 3, Lean Circuit of ChaLean Extreme and very happy with my results so far and can't wait to see my final results at the end of the month.

If you are in the NYC area (Manhattan only) and are interested in doing The Shake Cleanse, I can sell you the 9 shakes that you would need for the cleanse for $45 and I will deliver it for FREE. The shakes come in individual serving packets and 2 flavors (Chocolate and Greenberry). I love them both. You can choose either 1 or both flavors. They can be mixed with water, milk, almond milk, coconut water, juice, etc. I prefer almond milk and coconut water. I also prefer to mix them in a blender with ice to make them thick and frothy =)
